Record flax exports from Kazakhstan in the 2025/26 season: what it means for farmers and partners
In December 2025, Kazakhstan set an all-time record—178.3 thousand tons of flaxseed in a single month. EU tariffs on Russian flax (20% in 2025 and 50% from 2026) opened the European market to Kazakhstan, where we are actively replacing the former leader. Key destinations include Belgium, Poland, Germany, with stable growth in shipments to China as well.
For farmers, this means stable demand and good prices, provided the quality is high. For international partners, it ensures a reliable supplier with large volumes and a growing reputation. This article reviews the latest statistics, export forecasts for the rest of the season (around 750–790 thousand tons), and recommendations on how farmers can prepare for peak demand in spring–summer 2026.
